Porsche Boxster S Named 2013 Autoweek Best of the Best/Car

If you read my blog you already know how biased I am towards our Mid-Engine Porsche Product.  It is no secret how much I love my Boxster and how crazy I am about the new one.  I believe the 981 generation Porsche Boxster and Boxster S is the most fun you can have behind the wheel of a car you can drive comfortably every day.  There is nothing out there as easy and exciting to drive, Period.  The 911 shines brighter in many ways, but as far as bang for the buck and pure fun factor, our mid-mounted-boxer-engine powered roadster (sound familiar?) just can't be beat. The press seems to agree, with nothing but positive feedback and accolades everywhere.

The big news today is Autoweek selected the 2013 Porsche Boxster S as the "Best of the Best" car for 2013.  You can read the press release below:

Atlanta. The Porsche Boxster S has received yet another accolade, as this week it was named the 2013 Best of the Best/Car by Autoweek magazine– defeating more than a dozen contenders. This is the fifth major U.S. award for the Boxster since its launch in June 2012.
“As the only brand to have two models make our list of top five finalists, Porsche showed up in force,” said Wes Raynal, editor of Autoweek. “Both the Boxster S and 911 are stellar vehicles, but ultimately the Boxster S proved an absolute delight to drive, and it claimed the title.”
The third-generation Boxster is the latest mid-engine offering from Porsche and was completely redesigned for 2012. Taking styling cues from its heritage, the new Boxster pays homage to the Porsche 550 Spyder and Carrera GT models from decades past.
The annual Autoweek Best of the Best awards are determined by Autoweek’s team of editors and include car and truck models that are publicly available and all-new or substantially new for 2013. The judges chose five cars and five trucks as finalists from the list of three dozen competitors, scoring each vehicle on various criteria including drivetrain, ride quality, handling, exterior, interior design and “fun factor.” This year, the finalists in the car category were the Porsche Boxster S, Porsche 911, Cadillac ATS, Subaru BRZ and Dodge Dart.
Autoweek editor Wes Raynal presented trophies to the Best of the Best winners in the car and truck categories at an awards ceremony on Tuesday.

Porsche's Video Introduction to the New Cayman.

My first Porsche was a 2006 Cayman S.  That is when I realized what all the hype about owning one of these incredible machines is all about. I finally could relate to my client that told me he doesn't drive his Porsche -- he wears it, like a custom tailored suit.  I can't wait to wear this new Cayman!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to place an order.  Allocations coming soon to Beverly Hills Porsche, in Los Angeles California.

Porsche Lease Specials and Programs Coming to an End.

Porsche Cars, North America (PCNA) just announced that many of our most popular lease programs are being discontinued after November is over.  As of December 1st, many of our pull-ahead programs, lease loyalty deals, and special residual rates are going to go back to standard programs that we had before the economy went south.  I guess we can look on the bright side and see this as a sign of economic recovery, at least in Porsche's view, but if you are in the market for a Porsche... NOW is the time to come get one.  Lucky for us and our clients, Beverly Hills Porsche, in Los Angeles, California is the largest Porsche dealer in the country (by volume) and I will always be able to offer extremely competitive deals.  We are losing some great specials but we will always be Beverly Hills Porsche.  Come see me and find out what that really means.

Please contact me as soon as possible to take advantage of some incredible offers that are going to be over before we know it.

Porsche Cayenne Diesel Selected for Popular Science's "Best of What's New" for 2012

Posted by Porsche Cars North America on Nov 15, 2012 7:21:20 PM   [Published]

Popular Science has selected the Porsche Cayenne Diesel for the 2012 “Best of What’s New” honor.

The Cayenne Diesel, the first diesel-powered SUV ever offered by Porsche, made its U.S. debut at the New York International Auto Show in April. Powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine and delivering 240 hp and 406 lb. ft. of torque, the Cayenne Diesel can travel up to an estimated 740 miles on a single tank of fuel.

During its first month on sale, the Cayenne Diesel accounted for nearly 20 percent of all Cayenne sales in the U.S. The model was first introduced to the European market in 2009 and arrived at U.S. dealers in September 2012.

The 25th annual “Best of What’s New” awards are currently featured on the Popular Science website, www.popsci.com, and include categories such as auto, green, health and gadgets.

Today's Three P's: Purple Porsche Panamera. OMG.

I never thought I would want a Purple car.  Officially, it's called Amethyst, but like the quartz gem of the same name, it is purple.  Really purple.  And it is beautiful.  It probably won't be the last, but this is the first color that has inspired me to write a blog post.  I just can't get enough of it.  In today's world of Black, White, and (for the more adventurous car buyers) Grey, this one really stands out from the crowd in an incredibly unique way.  The color is rich and sumptuous and changes in every angle and every different lighting situation.  Depending on where and when you see it, it will range from a deep metallic Black to a Bright and flashy Purple.  Do I sound obsessed?  I am.  This Amethyst Metallic Panamera GTS has gotten me absolutely mesmerized. I still have not been able to walk past it without stopping in front of it for a quick moment of admiration.  Hats off to Porsche for giving us such an incredible color and for Beverly Hills Porsche for acquiring it.

I tried getting some good shots and a video of it but these photos do not do it justice.  This car has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated.  Once you can finally take your eyes off the exterior color, you look inside and see the Black Leather and Alcantara Adaptive Sport Seats, the Carbon Fiber Accents, and the leather dash and inserts; the Stitching! Then you start it up and immediately remember it's a GTS with Porsche's incredible Sport Exhaust and your ears all of a sudden are as happy as your eyes.  And you haven't even driven it yet.  The second you do is when you realize why you only need three letters to describe this car:  O.M.G.

Contact me with any questions or to schedule a viewing.

Porsche Concept: Panamera Sport Turismo

Porsche just unveiled a new concept car.  The panamera Sport Turismo.  Please don't call it a wagon, that name is just not cool enough for this beautiful, futuristic beast.  Here is the official press release from Porsche with more photos at the end:

Porsche concept car offers glimpse of a sports car of tomorrow Sporty, functional, efficient: Panamera Sport Turismo
Porsche is presenting the Panamera Sport Turismo concept car to show how amazingly intelligent and efficient drive technology might look in the design language of tomorrow. The Sport Turismo unites the next generation hybrid drive with new ideas for an evolutionary, sporty body concept; it combines Porsche performance with comprehensive everyday practicality. Body: sports appeal and functionality in further developed design
The body concept of the Panamera Sport Turismo is an outlook on a possible Porsche sports car of tomorrow: the overhangs are short and the boot lid is large – both sporty and functional. The concept car combines the dimensions of a premium vehicle with the interior comfort of the luxury class. The Sport Turismo is 75 in. (1,990 mm) wide, a low 55 in. (1,401 mm) in height and 195 in. (4,950 mm) long. Its direction indicators and sidelights are integrated in C-shaped lighting units – known as C-Blades – mounted in the large air inlets at the front end. Together with four-point LED headlights in an innovative design, they define the front end appearance of the concept car.
The smooth and taut exterior skin is not interrupted by add-on parts – there are no conventional exterior mirrors. In their place, the Sport Turismo has two cameras mounted in the side air outlets whose images are shown on the displays in the cockpit. The rear body has been completely reshaped, yet it retains all of the characteristics of a Porsche. The rear lights in LED technology and the tail-light panel with the “Porsche” badge are sculpted in three dimensions, and the brake light is positioned between the four-point LED rear lights. Forming the roof termination is an adaptive carbon rear spoiler that produces improved downforce.
The new Liquid Metal Blue color gives the concept car a surface that resembles liquid metal and highlights its contours and design lines more distinctly. The wheels in dual-spoke design have a bi-color look, and the brake calipers are painted Acid Green. The hub locks of the wheels recall the origins of every Porsche – which is motorsport. “e-hybrid” badges on the sides refer to the car’s drive concept, while the name “Sport Turismo” at the rear, framed in the same Acid Green color, emphasizes the car’s concept character. The milled aluminum battery housing is mounted under the boot floor, which is made of electro-chromatic glass and reveals a view of the energy source illuminated in Acid Green at the press of a button.
“e-hybrid” stands for plug-in hybrid technology from Porsche
The drive technology of the Panamera Sport Turismo completes the next development step towards the plug-in hybrid, symbolized by the “e-hybrid” badge on the front wings. The car’s new ability to be charged from the electrical power grid has been combined with even higher performance components. The concept vehicle with its 416 hp (306 kW) of peak system power is designed to be driven in pure electric mode up to a speed of 80 mph (130 km/hr) and can cover distances of over 18.6 miles (30 km). The Sport Turismo also exhibits impressive fuel economy per the NEDC standard; its combined fuel consumption is less than 3.5 liters per 100 km, while CO2 emissions are under 82 g/km. The drive system of the Panamera Sport Turismo is an advanced development of the parallel full hybrid that Porsche already implements today in the Panamera S Hybrid and Cayenne S Hybrid. The new electric motor produces about 70 kW (95 hp), which is around twice as much as in today’s Porsche hybrid drive, while the three-liter V6 supercharged engine still produces 245 kW (333 hp) here. In their interplay, they accelerate the concept car from zero to 62 mph in less than six seconds.
Power pack: lithium-ion battery with external charging capability
The electric power pack of the Sport Turismo e-hybrid consists of a lithium-ion battery whose performance is several times that of the nickel-hydride battery currently used in production, although it has practically the same dimensions. Its 9.4 Kilowatt-hours of energy storage capacity and high peak power enable faster acceleration, longer electric driving range and higher speeds when driving without the internal combustion engine.

The default operating mode of the e-hybrid prioritizes all-electric driving, but the driver may deactivate this by pressing a special button on the steering wheel. In addition, when the car is being operated in hybrid mode the driver can select the e-charge mode by pressing the steering wheel button to intentionally intensify charging of the high-voltage battery. This is especially useful when one section of the driving route on a motorway is followed by a section through a city that should be driven in pure electric mode without local emissions. In the e-charge mode, the internal combustion engine charges the battery by load point shifting, while satisfying rational energy management criteria.
As a plug-in hybrid, the fluid-cooled lithium-ion battery is not only charged while driving; it can also be externally charged within 2.5 hours (depending on the power supply) via a charging interface on the vehicle. Porsche systematically thought through all aspects of the concept car’s plug-in system; it utilizes a universal charger (AC) that is wall-mounted in a home garage and has a standardized charging plug.
Familiar and yet completely new: touch displays for instruments and controls
The interior of the Sport Turismo is a forward-looking interpretation of purist sports car thinking: as little as possible and as much as necessary. Instead of classic instruments, a large central TFT color display is positioned in front of the driver; it is used to call up and display any vehicle information as needed – from the tachometer to driving data or navigation. Two monitors, one to the left and one to the right of this display, show images from the “exterior mirror” cameras. Two additional displays in tube form provide information on the hybrid-specific driving states, e.g. pure electric driving, as well as other functions. The power meter in the instrument panel illuminates in Acid Green and shows the combined system power of the two drives.
A press on the touch-sensitive color display starts the e-hybrid. Naturally, on the side that is typical of a Porsche: the left side. A completely new type of touch display in the ascending center console incorporates additional controls; this is the control center for the e-hybrid and all other functions that is implemented in black panel technology. It offers the driver the option of influencing the hybrid drive via smart keys to choose maximum driving fun, maximum performance or maximum efficiency. All driving indicators and control functions are also intuitively operated by multi-touch functionality, such as automatic climate control, seat adjustment, lights, reversing camera and the functions of Porsche Communication Management (PCM).
Wide-ranging communications and control via smart phone app
The Panamera Sport Turismo gives the driver entirely new options for customized communications. The driver can use mobile online services to access and control all key vehicle information with a smart phone app. Charge control by mobile phone shows the user just how much electricity the battery has already stored at any given time and predicts how much more time the charging process will take. In addition, there is a charging timer with user-defined charging times. Moreover, the vehicle’s interior can also be preconditioned by mobile phone, e.g. by turning on the air conditioner, and the vehicle will already be at the right temperature before driving with electricity supplied from a household electrical outlet.

Porsche 918 Spyder Hits the Ring. The Nurburgring.

Some very exciting news came from Porsche within the past couple of days.  The 918 Spyder ran the Nordschleife, famous "Northern Loop" of the Nurburgring track in Germany in an astounding 7:14 minutes.  To put it in perspective, our previous flagship, the Carrera GT took a full 18 seconds longer to run the same track.  This time was also eight seconds faster than the goal Porsche had set for the time trial.  Stay tuned for more information as it comes.

Porsche Announces Cayenne S Diesel. But it's not for us.

Porsche AG today announced another great model for the Cayenne Lineup -- the new Cayenne S Diesel.  Unfortunately, we will not be seeing this car in the United Sates.  I guess we will only be able to day dream about this car.  I am a fan of diesels for the mixture of performance and fuel economy.  I love the Cayenne Diesel and can only imagine how much better this one would be.  If only.  What does the "S" bring to the table?  A Diesel fueled 4.2 Liter V8.  Specs are not announced yet but if they call it a Cayenne S, you know it's going to be a great car.  Stay tuned for details as they come.

Porsche is Taking their Interiors Seriously

A few days ago we received a phone call from our Porsche Cars, North America After-sales Manager saying he was in the Los Angeles area with some executives from the factory and was wondering if it was ok for them to stop by.  They were going to be having lunch in Beverly Hills and wanted to pay us a visit.  Several minutes later, I saw them pull up in their Cayenne S and ask to see all of our used Porsche's.  My curiosity got the best of me so I went out to see what this mysterious visit was all about. It turns out that the gentlemen that were visiting from Germany were some very high executives with Porsche AG.  They are the engineers in charge of the interiors of all of the Porsche cars and SUVs.  Along with them was their boss. The man who heads Porsche's interior design department. He controls the purchasing of all the materials that go into the interiors of our cars.  The purpose of their visit was to see how these materials age over time and what improvements can be made.  This is part of Porsche's commitment to out most quality and durability.  They could have sent anyone to look at these but these guys personally took the time to come out in the blazing heat and inspect each and every one of our used Porsche's just to see how their materials are holding up over time.
I spent a few minutes chatting with them and was blown away by the passion and commitment to their work. They asked me questions about my feelings and opinions regarding Porsche's new generation of interior design and quality and took my answers very seriously.
I always knew how passionate Porsche employees and engineers were about their work and our cars but seeing it first hand and talking to them personally gave me a completely new understanding of Porsche Passion.

The New Porsche Cayenne Diesel is Here

I finally drove the new Cayenne Diesel and I can honestly say this is by far the best SUV for the money.  That is, if you don't need your SUV to be one of the fastest cars on the road, in which case you would get a Cayenne Turbo.  For just a little more than a base Cayenne V6, you get the Diesel; which gives you substantially better fuel economy than the standard 6 cylinder and about 400 lb/ft of torque! This is not the fastest Cayenne you can get but I think it is the one that makes the most sense.  The power delivery is smooth and immediate, both off the line and while cruising at speed.  And with a fuel economy rating of 29mpg you get much better mileage than the V6 and the Hybrid!
Now for the diesel haters out there, you really need to listen to (and smell!) this car in person.  I don't think you would be able to tell this is a diesel from inside the car.  It is quiet and smooth and a real Porsche as far as driving dynamics go.  To sum it up, this thing is fun, fast and frugal while being environmentally friendly.  My Boxster really wants a Cayenne Diesel parked by it's side.

If you are interested in learning more about this or any of our cars feel free to contact me.  If you are in or near the Beverly Hills and West Los Angeles area or anywhere in Southern California, come visit us.

You don't have to be rich to drive a Porsche in Beverly Hills

I've been driving my Porsche Boxster a lot lately and I just want to say that anyone that thinks the Boxster is a "girl car" or a "poor man's Porsche" probably hasn't driven one (my comment towards Boxster haters was going to be a lot less pleasant but I try to keep this blog on the friendly side).

I picked up this 2002 regular Boxster in December, and I have never had so much fun driving a car.  Keep in mind, this is not my first time in a Porsche; there is a reason I am The Porsche Guy after all.  My Boxster is my third Porsche and since I've been selling them for almost seven years, I can honestly say I have driven most modern Porsche models.

Why do I love this little Boxster so much?  In the words of one of our Porsche regional managers, "I would rather drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow."  I can drive the hell out of my Boxster; I can throw it into corners as fast as I want, I can hold every gear until the red-line, I can carve curves like a real racecar driver (I'm not) and this car does everything I want it to.  And with outmost precision.  If I drove a 911 Turbo or any muscle car the way I drive my Zanzibar Boxster I would not be able to write this post because I would be in jail.

Being in the Porsche business in Los Angeles, I am always hearing "I would love to drive a Porsche but I just can't afford it!"  Let me tell you something; whatever your budget is, whether it is $10,000 or $200,000, there is a Porsche out there for you.  And no matter which one you get, you will love every second of owning it.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.

The New Porsche 911 Carrera 4 AWD Models

As expected, Porsche just announced the addition of the all wheel drive models to the new 991 generation Carrera line up.  These models are more popular for their (slightly) wider rear ends than the fact that they boast a very modern and engaging all wheel drive system.
Here is the press release from PCNA:

The New Porsche 911 Carrera 4

Advanced active all-wheel drive for even more driving fun and safety

Lighter, faster, more agile: the new 911 Carrera 4

Stuttgart. The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 unites the excellent performance and efficiency of the new generation of the 911 Carrera with the dynamic benefits of the latest version of the active all-wheel drive system PTM (Porsche Traction Management). The typical Porsche all-wheel drive with rear-focused layout in this latest 911 version guarantees maximum vehicle dynamics on a wide variety of road surfaces and in all weather conditions. The new 911 Carrera 4 models deliver traction and dynamic performance the power of four.

The new all-wheel drive 911 is being launched on the market in four versions – as the 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Carrera 4S and each as Coupé and Cabriolet. They sport the same traits as the rear-wheel drive versions: their lightweight body design, suspension, engines and gearboxes are identical, the only exception being modifications related to the all-wheel drive. This means that despite a higher level of engine and driving performance, all four models consume significantly less fuel than the previous models; total savings for individual versions are as much as 16 per cent. In addition, the new 911 Carrera 4 is up to 65 kg lighter in weight.

The most distinct identifying feature of the 911 with all-wheel drive is still the wide rear section: compared to the two-wheel drive 911 Carrera models, the rear wheel housings each extend further outward by 22 mm, and the rear tyres are each ten millimetres wider. The traditional red light band that connects the two taillights has also taken on a new form.

Porsche Intelligent Performance: high levels of driving performance, low fuel consumption
All new models have a 7-speed manual gearbox as standard, and the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearbox is available as an option. The 911 Carrera 4 Coupé with 350 hp (257 kW) can sprint from zero to 100 km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.7 s) and reach a top speed of up to 285 km/h (Cabriolet: 282 km/h), depending on equipment features. Fuel consumption with PDK is 8.6 l/100 km (CO2 203 g/km) for the Coupé and 8.7 l/100 km (CO2 205 g/km) for the Cabriolet.

The Coupé and Cabriolet of the 911 Carrera 4 S each have a 3.8-litre rear-mounted boxer engine that produces 400 hp (294 kW); this enables acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (Cabriolet: 4.3 seconds) and a top speed of 299 km/h (Cabriolet: 296 km/h) with a suitable equipment configuration. Fuel consumption values with PDK are 9.1 l/100 km (CO2 215 g/km) for the Coupé and 9.2 l/100 km (CO2 217 g/km) for the Cabriolet.

New: all-wheel drive indicator, Porsche Active Safe, sliding glass sunroof, extended Sport Chrono pack
In the new 911 Carrera 4, a new menu in the instrument cluster informs the driver how the PTM all-wheel drive is currently distributing engine power. In addition, with the debut of the 911 Carrera all-wheel drive models Porsche is introducing the optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to the entire model range, which controls distance to traffic ahead and vehicle speed. When ordered with PDK, the ACC system adds the safety function Porsche Active Safe (PAS), which helps to prevent front-end collisions. In addition, Porsche offers a new sliding glass sunroof as an optional feature for the 911 Carrera Coupé. Driving 911 cars with a manual gearbox and Sport Chrono pack can now be even sportier: In Sport Plus mode, the system automatically double-declutches during downshifts.

The new all-wheel drive models replace a very successful previous generation, of which a total of about 24,000 units have been sold since 2008. This represents a 34 per cent share of total sales of second generation 997 models. This previous generation launched with one of the greatest development steps in powertrain technology that the 911 with all-wheel drive ever made: new were the engines with direct petrol injection, Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearbox and electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (PTM). In July 2011, Porsche crowned the model series with the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, whose 3.8-litre engine was boosted to 408 hp (300 kW).

World premiere at the Paris International Motor Show
The new Porsche 911 Carrera with all-wheel drive will make its first public appearance at the 2012 Paris International Motor Show. The new 911 models will launch at the end of 2012. Prices in Germany are 97,557 euros for the 911 Carrera 4 Coupé and 110,290 euros for the Cabriolet. The 911 Carrera 4 S costs 112,313 euros as a Coupé and 125,046 euros as a Cabriolet. All prices include 19 per cent VAT and country-specific features.

New 911 Carrera S Named 2012 Motor Trend Best Driver's Car

All of us here @BevHillsPorsche would agree with the award from @MotorTrend, but we are kind of biased after all.  Now one of the most respected names in automotive journalism has awarded our 991 S Coupe with the Best Driver's Car award.  You can click here for a link to the entire article and read Porsche's official press release below:

New Porsche 911 Carrera S Named 2012 Motor Trend Best Driver’s Car

Motor Trend has chosen the Porsche 911 Carrera S as its Best Driver's Car for 2012.  The Best Driver’s Car honor is decided after a yearly competition among the best new or improved performance cars available in the U.S. market.
“‘Best Driver’s Car’ is the highest honor Motor Trend gives to a performance vehicle, which is the main reason it is so coveted across the industry,” said Ed Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend.  “Congratulations to Porsche and its 911 Carrera S for beating out such a diverse, yet uniformly excellent field this year.”
“Being named ‘Motor Trend Best Driver's Car’ is a testament to the work of the men and women in Weissach and Zuffenhausen who are so passionate about designing and building our sports cars,” said Detlev von Platen, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. “This accomplishment shows that the 911 still has the same magic it’s had for nearly 50 years, as it continues to be both a great car to drive     everyday on the road and on the track.”
Motor Trend editors choose the car that most makes them want to head out to their favorite road and drive.  To achieve this, each contender is run through a battery of  dynamic tests, a 500-mile road trip, hard canyon driving on a closed course and finally, evaluation at the hands of professional driver Randy Pobst at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.  All of that information is then distilled down by seven judges, and after careful consideration, a winner is declared.
The test aims to go beyond the numbers, uncovering the one vehicle that offers enthusiasts the most engaging and rewarding driving experience possible.
The Porsche 911 Carrera S, along with its opponents for the test, is currently being featured during Best Driver’s Car Week (August 20-24) on Motor Trend's website www.motortrend.com and YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/motortrend.  Enthusiasts can follow all the track testing action that took place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and discover how each of the competitors performed by viewing 5 separate feature stories and 11 exciting videos.

I moved back home to Beverly Hills Porsche

As much as I enjoyed running the sales department at McKenna Porsche, I had been getting very homesick over the last half a year.  I have been talking with the management staff at Beverly Hills for a while and they had a void here that needed to be filled.  In short, I came in as "Director of Business Development" which basically means I make sure no clients slip through the crack.  Beverly Hills Porsche is the #1 Porsche store in the Western U.S. and one of the top three in the country; we have also held the top spot in the U.S. many times.  I am here to help make sure we keep climbing and permanently become the number one Porsche dealership in the country and the world.

Selling Porsche's in Beverly Hills.  What could be better for The Porsche Guy?!  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  You can email me by clicking here or call me at 310.804.0974.
Here you can see the beautiful view from my office window.

Great Press on the New Porsche Boxster!

Porsche Cars of North America has compiled a great list of write ups on the New Boxster.  Having spent some time behind the wheel I have to agree!

Here is the article from Porsche:

In conjunction with the sales training at Barber Motorsports Park, PCNA Public Relations hosted 45 journalists from around the country to drive the all-new Boxster. The first online reviews have started to come in and they are overwhelmingly positive. We will continue to update this list as more reviews come in and once the print reviews are published, we will be sure to post them in this location as well.
Please take a few moments to review some of the articles below and if applicable, please pass along to potential Boxster prospects to help engage them prior to the point-of-sale date.

All New Model Year 2013 Porsche Boxster is here!

I love my 2002 Boxster but after driving this new one, I think I'm going to have to order one for myself.  This is the perfect sports car, every way you look at it.  It is a true precision machine that will do anything you ask of it.  The new Boxster is more fun to drive than other car that cost more than twice as much.

Porsche SE and Volkswagen AG create Integrated Automotive Group

Boards pass concept for accelerated creation of the Integrated Automotive Group between Porsche and Volkswagen / One-time positive effect on earnings / Porsche SE as financially strong holding company continues to be significantly involved in growth of Volkswagen AG
Stuttgart, 4 July 2012.

Porsche Automobil Holding SE (Porsche SE), Stuttgart, and Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft (Volkswagen AG), Wolfsburg, are expected to achieve their shared goal of creating the Integrated Automotive Group on 1 August 2012. The competent bodies and the executive boards responsible at both companies have approved a concept for the complete integration of Porsche AG into the Volkswagen Group. According to the concept, Porsche SE will contribute its holding business operations, including its 50.1 percent investment in Porsche's operating business, to Volkswagen AG. The consummation of the transaction will make Volkswagen AG sole owner of Porsche’s business operations.
"The accelerated implementation of the shared goal will make Porsche SE a financially strong holding company with attractive potential for increasing value added. We are creating clearly defined, sustainable structures and a solid outlook for Porsche SE’s future," said Matthias Müller, member of the Porsche SE executive board. "In their operating business, Porsche and Volkswagen will now be able to leverage synergies at an earlier stage and cooperate more easily. Porsche SE, as the largest Volkswagen shareholder, will also benefit greatly from this."
Porsche SE will receive a cash amount of about 4.46 billion euro from the transaction, as well as one new ordinary Volkswagen AG share. This cash amount includes the base purchase price agreed upon in the basic agreement and discounted to today's fair value for Porsche SE's 50.1 percent share in Porsche's operating business as well as the fair value of dividend payments from this investment due to Porsche SE from now until 2014. Economically, this means that Porsche SE will be in the same position today, as regards to its 50.1 percent share in Porsche's operating business, as it would be if Volkswagen exercised its call option, as provided for in the basic agreement of 2009, in August 2014. The cash amount of about 4.46 billion euro additionally includes, also at today's fair value, half of the possible additional net synergies made possible by the accelerated creation of the Integrated Automotive Group totaling some 320 million euro, as well as the fair value of the other Porsche SE assets that will be contributed to Volkswagen AG. The accelerated creation of the Integrated Automotive Group can be implemented at economically viable conditions on the basis of the German Transformation Tax Act and the German Transformation Tax Decree published at the end of 2011, as well as binding rulings from the competent financial authorities.
Due to the contribution, the investment in Porsche's operating business will no longer be accounted for at equity in the consolidated financial statements of Porsche SE, probably as of July 2012, with the result that no further profits from investments accounted for at equity will be attributable to Porsche SE from this investment. After the contribution has been performed, Porsche SE will, however, continue to hold a share of 32.2 percent of Volkswagen AG's capital and will therefore participate indirectly in the result of Porsche's operating business as well as benefiting from the realization of the full synergy potential of the Integrated Automotive Group in the future.
The contribution transaction itself will result in a one-time positive effect on earnings presumably in the amount of about 7 billion euro in the consolidated financial statements of Porsche SE. This results in particular from the contribution of Porsche SE's share in Porsche's operating business as well as the put and call options relating to this share. Moreover, the effect on earnings takes into account the effect of the transaction on accounting for the share in Volkswagen AG at equity. As the effect on earnings is determined on the basis of valuations still to be updated as at the envisaged date of contribution, i.e. 1 August 2012, the amount may still be subject to changes. The existing put and call options, which will terminate with consummation of the transaction, will have no further effects on the Porsche SE group's net assets and results of operations.
Porsche SE will initially use the cash of about 4.46 billion euro that it receives to repay bank liabilities of 2.0 billion euro in full. The major portion of the liquidity remaining thereafter is intended to be used for strategic equity investments, focusing along the automotive value chain.

2013 Boxster officially announced

Lighter, more muscular, more distinctive and more fuel-efficient
ATLANTA, January 12, 2012 - Never before in the history of the Porsche Boxster has a change of generation been so comprehensive. The open-top two-seat car receives an entirely new lightweight body and a completely revamped chassis. The new Boxster weighs less than the previous generation and rides on a longer wheelbase and a wider track. These new dimensions are coupled with larger wheels and a new electromechanical power steering system to significantly enhance the mid-engine sports car's driving dynamics. The new Boxster boasts superior performance and is also up to 15 percent more fuel-efficient than previous models on the European cycle.
The new Boxster benefits not only from an increased wheelbase but also shorter overhangs, while the windscreen has been shifted forward. The passengers are enclosed by the completely redesigned, fully electric top, which now dispenses with a convertible top compartment lid. The interior concept offers the occupants more space and reflects the new Porsche outline with a raked center console, which, originating with the Carrera GT ensures improved ergonomics in all models.
The new sports car generation makes its debut in the classic Porsche pairing of Boxster and Boxster S. Both models are powered by flat-six engines with direct fuel injection, the efficiency of which is further enhanced by electrical system recuperation, thermal management and start/stop function. The base model's new power unit delivers 265 hp from a 2.7 liter displacement - ten hp more than its larger displacement predecessor. Technically, it is now based on the 3.4-liter engine of the Boxster S. This now delivers 315 hp, which is five hp more than before. Both models feature a manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option. Both sports cars achieve their best fuel consumption and acceleration performance with the PDK. With gear changes without interruption to the power flow, the Boxster sprints from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, the Boxster S in 4.7 seconds.
To enhance driving dynamics yet further, Porsche offers the Sport Chrono Package as an optional extra for the Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first time. Also new in the Boxster is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear axle differential lock.
The new Boxster models are expected in U.S. showrooms in early summer 2012. The basic list price iwill be $49,500 for the Boxster and $60,900 for the Boxster S, not including a $950 destination charge.
